DIY (Do it your self) herbal soap

It's fun to make your own soap, using safe materials. The most dangerous material in making soap is "lye", it might burn your skin if you're not very careful. The role of dye is for combining with fats to form a salt "soap" in a process called saponification. We can reuse ivory soap to make our own herbal soap safely :)

All we need to do is shredding ivory soap using an ordinary shredder, and to get our favorite herb like chamomile, lavender flower or mint.

Steps

  1. Soak 2 tbsp dried favorite powdered herbs in a cup of boiled water for 30 minutes.
  2. Add few drops of your favorite essential oil of your favorite scent.
  3. Boil then pour over 2 cups of shredded ivory soap.
  4. Add few drops of food colour (green for mint, purple for lavender and yellow for chamomile soap)
  5. Mix very well and pour into greased molds then leave in a cold place for about half an hour.
  6. Take the soap bars out of mold and leave it to dry for at least 2 days and enjoy :)
